Michael Ebeid AM has more than 30 years’ experience in the technology, telecommunications and media industries across the Asia Pacific region. He has a successful track record in leading organisational transformations and is passionate about workplace culture and leadership.
Michael was appointed CEO and Managing Director of SBS in June 2011. Under his leadership, SBS has launched NITV and Food Network free-to-air, struck an exclusive content deal with VICE, long-term rights agreements for the FIFA World Cup and Tour de France and deals for the English Premier League and US Open. SBS has become a market leader in digital streaming and leveraged its credentials in digital broadcast technology to deliver on Charter obligations through a major expansion of in-language services and programs for Australia’s multicultural communities.
Before SBS, Michael was Executive Director of Corporate Strategy and Marketing at the ABC and Commercial Operations Director at Optus Communications. Michael began his career at IBM where he held various finance, sales and marketing positions in Australia and Asia.
In 2017, Michael was made a Member of the Order of Australia in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for his service to broadcast media and multicultural affairs as an executive, business leader and innovator.
