Mentees

Rosanne Barrett.

“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the higher part of yourself when sometimes it becomes hidden to your own view.” Oprah Winfrey

It’s not just Oprah who knows mentoring helps you learn, grow and reach your goals. 2018 mentee Roseanne Barrett, mentored by Madonna King, knows too.

“Madonna’s clear thinking, enthusiasm and relentless drive helped me plan my future path in media and set a new framework for my work and life,” she says.

Barrett is a strategic communications adviser with a Canberra-based consultancy. She also runs a side-hustle as Barrett Comms when she is not running around after her three children five years and younger.

Applications are now open for the 2019 Women in Media Queensland mentoring program.

Mentors

Paula Doneman

If you want to ‘give back’ by mentoring a woman working in the Queensland media and be part of our 2019 mentoring program we want to hear from you.

“I am in my third year of being a WIM mentor and find it immensely rewarding sharing insights, obstacles and solutions with talented journalists whose stars are clearly on the rise,” says Seven News Crime Editor Paula Doneman.

“My four mentees have also taught me about new and different challenges facing journalists in our ever-shifting and dynamic industry.”
